Bio
Samy Bishai is an Anglo-Egyptian violinist, composer, producer and musical director working at the intersection of classical precision, jazz instinct and global sound.
Originally trained in the Western classical tradition, his playing quickly expanded beyond it—drawing on jazz, Arabic music, improvisation and contemporary electronic production to develop a voice that is both technically exacting and stylistically fluid. The result is a musician equally at ease inside a score or far outside it.
Over a wide-ranging international career, Bishai has performed and recorded with artists including Natacha Atlas, Shakira, Basement Jaxx, Nitin Sawhney, Tom Jones and Brian Eno, contributing to hundreds of projects across stages and studios worldwide. His work spans touring, recording, film, and interdisciplinary performance, often blurring the lines between them.
As an arranger, producer and long-time musical director for Natacha Atlas, he has played a key role in shaping ambitious, genre-crossing work—bringing together electronic, orchestral and Middle Eastern influences with clarity and intent.
Fast, adaptable and musically incisive, Bishai has built a reputation for precision, versatility and quietly shaping the sound of ambitious, genre-defying projects.
